This was Data Expo 2025
Engaging conversations about governance, data quality and especially the human factor behind data success emerged at every corner of the trade show. Visitors were not looking for hypes, but for ways to really structure, manage and impact data.

Exhibitors on stage
There was overwhelming interest in the 120+ lectures. The use cases of exhibitors together with their customers were particularly popular. In them, data providers and companies showed how AI and data are now intertwined with their business structure. This gave visitors a concrete picture of the impact of data and AI in practice.
Many exhibitors chose their own time slot this year and filled it as they saw fit. For example, Collibra showed how to unlock business value with data, Neo4j showed how a knowledge graph makes enterprise data AI-ready, and Springbok Agency talked about the efforts required to actually become AI-ready.

"I was bummed that we weren't able to secure a time slot for a lecture this year. Last year we did, and you notice that: in addition to the leads you get out of it, you also see that many visitors come to your booth after the session."

A dynamic epicenter of data
"Get to know each other and go into the fair to the companies that can help you," Frans Feldberg (VU professor) concluded his talk. And that was exactly where the strength of Data Expo lay: an exhibition floor full of knowledge, advice and inspiration, where exhibitors actively took visitors into the practice of data.
Exhibitors showed how their solutions make a real difference. For example, at DTX you could win a barbecue with the prompt that burns the most tokens, Bearpoint brought your sketch to life and Dataddo surprised with a magician. There was also a lot of buzz at Optimizely, where visitors could use AI to create their ultimate scent. In addition, many more booths showcased creative, interactive and hands-on experiences, making data tangible for visitors.

"We notice that the questions that are alive now are really different than a year ago. Last year it was mainly about 'we have to do something with data'. Now visitors are running into limits. Generative AI is everywhere, and they can no longer see the forest for the trees. A meta-dataset or a semantic layer is becoming more and more necessary."

In a world of data, people make the difference
The BV Nederland is rapidly becoming data-driven and data-driven, a visit to Data Expo reveals. Anno 2025, a data strategy is indispensable for future-oriented organizations. But a strategy alone is nothing: it is people who make the difference, even in times of data contracts, knowledge graphs and Agentic AI.
