This was Data Expo 2025

Data & AI is alive and well! And that was evident during Data Expo 2025. With a record number of 6,241 visitors, this was the best attended edition ever. At 10 a.m. the first thousand visitors were ready to seize their data opportunities.

For two days, the convivial and inspiring Data Expo was the place to be for data-driven Netherlands. On every corner conversations arose between data-minded professionals about governance, data quality and especially the human factor behind data success. It was striking that visitors were more informed than ever. No longer just looking for hypes, but for ways to really structure, manage and to make impact with data.

Use cases on the program: Learning from others

Kicking off the event was Picnic. In the keynote hall, filled to the brim, CTO Daniel Gebler showed how data quality drives their AI-driven supply chain. Interest in the more than 120 other lectures and roundtable sessions was also overwhelming. From ASN Bank, Rituals and Magnum to Philips and KWF: organizations large and small, from finance, retail and non-profit, showed how data and AI are now woven into their business structure.

In inspiring use cases they shared the turning points that shaped their data-driven approach, the challenges they encountered and especially how they eventually became truly successful. We also delved deeper into the power and pitfalls of AI. Frans Feldberg made it clear that knowledge of the limitations is indispensable and revealed why so many AI pilots fail.

In short: a program that was fascinating for everyone, from data scientists and managers to complete business teams.

A dynamic epicenter of data

"Get to know each other and go into the exhibition to the companies that can help you," Frans Feldberg concluded his talk. And that was exactly where the strength of Data Expo lays: an exhibition floor full of knowledge, advice and inspiration. Exhibitors engaged in enthusiastic discussions and showed how data makes a difference in practice.

Visitors could not only learn about solutions, but also experience them for themselves. For example, at DTX you could win a barbecue with the prompt that burned the most tokens, Bearpoint literally brought your sketch to life, there were various LEGO contests, a magician amazed you at Dataddo and Neo4j gave short inspiration sessions at the booth. A lot of buzz was caused by Optimizely. They let visitors compose their ultimate fragrance using AI. All in all, this year's floor was full of surprises, interaction and tangible ways to experience the power of data.

Thinking in ecosystems

As with data and AI, no organization can do it alone. Success comes from collaboration between parties. That's why this year we joined forces with CyberSec, the cybersecurity event. Visitors could not only explore the exhibition floor of CyberSec, but also benefit from a valuable program.

The overlap in domain and a diversity of themes provided a cross-pollination of knowledge and inspiration. On September 10 and 11, the Jaarbeurs was therefore transformed into a true knowledge hub for dataminded Netherlands.

What organizations can really do with data: insights from Data Expo 2025

Everyone wants to do something with data or AI, but few know how. At Data Expo 2025, it became clear: without clear goals, good data quality and a lot of attention to implementation, success remains elusive. The gap between technology and application still appears to be large. Something can be done about that!

"What I do find valuable here are really the concrete use cases. You don't find those online. For example, a lecture from Philips on how compliance works in practice."

In a world of data, people make the difference

The BV Nederland is rapidly becoming data-driven and data-driven, a visit to Data Expo reveals. Anno 2025, a data strategy is indispensable for future-oriented organizations. But a strategy alone is nothing: it is people who make the difference, even in times of data contracts, knowledge graphs and Agentic AI.
