The Netherlands faces a major challenge: to expand and future-proof our electrical grid.
At my client Alliander, the research centre for digital technologies is the place where digital innovations are tested and developed for organizational use. While they work on some great cutting-edge technologies, however, getting the organization to adopt their innovative solutions proved difficult. I joined the team to help in this aspect, and after one year we have implemented one use-case (almost) in production with widespread adoption and support: an AI pipeline that takes in 3D scans of assets, automatically detects components, and can simulate new designs.
The product is projected to cut design time by 20% and enable Alliander to stay ahead in the race to a future-proof electrical grid. Finally, we generalize aspects of this use case into broader lessons learned that you can use in your company to bridge the "valley of death" between innovation and implementation!
