Headless BI and Vibe Coding in the New Era of Analytics

Headless BI separates the analytical logic (metrics, calculations, data models) from the presentation layer (dashboards, charts, UI). Instead of a monolithic tool like Tableau or Power BI where the logic and visuals are bundled together, headless BI exposes your metrics via API so they can be consumed anywhere. A data analyst with no traditional software engineering background can now: define clean metrics in a semantic layer (headless BI), vibe-code a polished, custom dashboard or data app that consumes those metrics and embed it directly into a product or internal tool. The combination essentially turns data analysts into full-stack analytics engineers — without requiring years of software development experience. The bottleneck shifts from "can we build it?" to "what should we build?"
