Chief Analytics Officer
Since March 2023, Tjerrie Smit has been Chief Analytics Officer at NN Group. In this role, he leads the Data & AI Strategy Programme and has built several Data and Data Science teams. Under his leadership, NN Group is transforming into a data driven organization, deploying AI at scale to enhance customer experience, automate processes, and improve operational efficiency.
He played a key role in establishing the early collaboration with OpenAI and Microsoft around GPT technology. This partnership enabled NN Group to develop innovative applications for both customer interactions and internal processes. His team supports multiple business units with AI expertise and delivers concrete solutions, such as automatically summarizing customer conversations through a large scale LLM production environment. NN Group is also realizing meaningful progress with Agentic AI solutions, which form an increasingly important part of the organization’s AI capability. Within the organization, Smit developed an AI framework in which ethics and reliability are central.
He is furthermore committed to strengthening data skills across the organization. Through a broad Data Literacy Programme, employees are actively supported in their development. According to Smit, investing in reskilling and upskilling is essential to prepare staff for a rapidly changing environment.
Before taking on his current role, Tjerrie Smit held several positions, including Head of Data & AI, Manager Advanced Analytics and Manager Customer Analytics.
