Behind the Scenes: How RTL Uses AI to Power Video Workflows
Prajakta Shouche
Data Scientist and ML Engineer
At RTL, video is everywhere—whether it’s a drama on Videoland, a breaking headline on RTL Nieuws, or prime-time shows on our TV channels. Behind every frame are multiple teams ensuring it all gets edited, refined, and delivered to the screen. Tasks like subtitling long-form content, scrubbing footage for thumbnails, placing ad break markers, or separating speech from music are essential—but also time-consuming and hard to scale manually.
That’s where AI plays a role—as a practical tool to support these business needs. In this session, we’ll show how we’re using AI to automate some of the most repetitive parts of our video workflows—saving time, easing manual load, and making room for more creative and editorial focus.
We’ll also take a closer look at the infrastructure that enables this work: a modular, open-source-first pipeline built for flexibility and integration with human expertise and business logic.
If you’re exploring open-source models, building AI into real-world workflows, or just curious on how we are applying AI in production, join us at the session!
