Data with Purpose: EBMT’s Approach to Sharing and Governing Insights
Jordy Vercammen
Lead analytics
The EBMT has been collecting data on patients undergoing stem cell transplants for over 30 years, storing information on more than 40.000 treatment and life-long follow up for HSCT transplant recipients per year.
EBMT replaced its old data capture environment with a new, custom-developed system, to which legacy data was migrated. The new cloud-based EBMT Registry was developed in close collaboration with edenceHealth, Studio Hyperdrive, Nubex and Agiliz. The EBMT Registry is designed to handle high volumes of patient data from hundreds of transplant centers worldwide, offering a reliable and scalable environment for data entry, retrieval, and analysis.
The new system has been equipped with functionalities to perform data monitoring and SDV, to ensure it provides a platform for post-authorisation safety studies. Strategy has been implemented as a tool for EBMT's member hospitals and research staff to access and consume data in a simple, informative and user friendly manner. In addition to that, EBMT is making use of the OMOP CDM format for its analysis-ready data, building upon it to deliver insights in a friendly and understandable manner and furthering interconnectivy in the health data ecosystem.
By updating its core platform, EBMT is laying the foundations for better research, stronger data quality, and more user-friendly, ready-to-use data for analysis.
