Teus Kappen is the Chief Science Information Officer and Associate Professor at UMC Utrecht. With a background in anaesthesiology and a passion for digital innovation, his work focuses on building the ultimate IT infrastructure needed to bring advanced AI solutions into clinical practice. His interest in decision support systems began with his doctoral research in 2006, one of the early explorations of using predictive AI tools to support complex medical decisions. Teus combines his expertise in healthcare, data science, and IT to help establish a scalable, modular infrastructure that enables the application of AI solutions in daily clinical practice.
